To tackle, to deal with, to argue

- Acometer, afrontar, combatir, resolver: to tackle.
· No one country can tackle this crisis alone: ningún país puede afrontar esta crisis por sí mismo.
· It's high time you tackled him about the debts: ya es hora de que le plantées cara a cara (te enfrentes con él por) lo de las deudas.
· How does he intend to tackle this problem?: ¿Cómo pretende solucionar este problema?.

- Tratar con alguien: to deal with somebody.
            · In my job I used to deal with chinese people: en mi trabajo suelo tratar con chinos.
            · You have to learn how to deal with clients: tienes que aprender cómo tratar con clientes.
            · I deal with John regularly: trato con John regularmente.

- Discutir (acaloradamente): to argue.
            · Don’t argue with me!: ¡no me discutas!
            · They’re always arguing about money: Siempre están discutiendo por cuestiones de dinero.

- ¿Cómo es él? (de personalidad) – es un buen tío: what is he like? -he’s a nice guy.
- ¿Cómo es él? (de aspecto físico): what does he look like? -he’s tall and thin.

            · You should lower the price: deberías bajar el precio.
            · This success should not lead us to lower our guard: Este éxito no debe llevarnos a relajar/rebajar la vigilancia.

- Mano de obra: labour.
            · He’s going to charge you for the labour: te va a cobrar la mano de obra.
            · Labour Rights: derechos laborales.
            · They’re worried about the child labour in Africa: están preocupados por la mano de obra infantil en África.

- Tropezar con alguien / encontrarse (por sorpresa) con alguien: to run into somebody.
            · She didn’t talk to him  even when they ran into each other in the hallway: ella ni siquiera le habló cuando se encontraron en la entrada.
            · Yesterday I ran into Juan and he asked me after you: ayer me encontré con Juan y me preguntó por ti.

- Tomar el pelo: to pull your leg.
            · Don’t make a deal with him, he’s pulling your leg: no hagas el trato con él, te está tomando el pelo.
            · Calm down! I was only pulling your leg!: ¡cálmate!, ¡solo te estaba tomando el pelo!.

- Buscar: to look up, pero atención en el orden de las distintas formas de decirlo, con “it”, o especificando lo que se busca:
            *to LOOK it UP.
            *to LOOK UP something.
            · I don’t know the meaning to the word “accurate”, I’ll look it up in the dictionary.
            · I’m going to look up “accurate” in the dictionary.

- Formación: training.
            · Training is an ongoing concern in this company: la formación es una preocupación constante en esta compañía.
            · You will start working after your training period: empezarás a trabajar tras un periodo de formación.

- Convocar: to call.
            · The syndicates have call a strike: los sindicatos han convocado una huelga.
            · You should call a meeting for tomorrow: deberías convocar una reunion para mañana.

- Demandar: to sue.
            · She intends to sue his boss for bullying: ella pretende demandar a su jefe por acoso laboral.
            · I’m going to sue you! See you in court!: ¡Te voy a demandar!, ¡Nos vemos en los tribunales!.

- Preciso: precise/accurate.
            “Precise” se refiere al nivel de sensibilidad de una medición.
            · This bathroom scale is very precise, it measures even grams, 75.256 kg: Esta báscula de baño es muy precisa (o tiene mucha sensibilidad), mide incluso gramos, 75,256 kg.
            “Accurate” se refiere a que una medición o pronóstico es muy exacto, con poco error.
            · Your estimation has been very accurate, my weight is 75 kg as you said: tu cálculo ha sido muy preciso (o correcto), mi peso es 75 kg como dijiste.

- Comentar sobre: to comment ON
            · Allow me to comment on some of the issues: permíteme comentar algunos de los asuntos.
            · I would like you to comment on my last project: me gustaría que comentaras mi último proyecto.

- En una tormenta: Thunder es el trueno, lo que se oye; lighting es el relámpago, lo que se ve.
            · During a storm, the thunder sounds a few seconds alter the lighting: durante una tormenta, el trueno suena unos pocos segundos después del relámpago.

- Tener razón, estar en lo cierto: to be right.
            · Your mother was right, it’s starting to rain: tu madre tenía razón, está empezando a llover.
            · Am I right?: ¿tengo razón? / ¿estoy en lo cierto?
            · No, you’re not right: no, no tienes razón.
            · I wish you were right, but I’m not going to pass the exam: ojalá tuvieras razón, pero no voy a aprobar el examen.

- Casi nunca, apenas: hardly ever.
            · Ideas on paper hardly ever turn into reality: las ideas sobre el papel, casi nunca se hacen realidad.
